Property Management is a fundamental service for Property Investors, which has been around a long time – an industry that we have been proud to be a part of for many, many years. Over this time there are number of things we have learnt, and that is Property Management is not confined to the hours of 9am to 5pm.
When talking in terms of the Property Managers duties outside of normal business hours we take into consideration the following:
- Emergency repairs and maintenance
- Prospective tenant property viewings
- Owners wishing to inspect their properties on weekends and holidays
- Other ad hoc emergencies
So as you can see there are a number of factors that make our roles and hours diverse.
Now we aren’t it saying that we work all the time, Property managers do need a break too however there are times where things happen and that’s just the nature of what we do to be available within reason outside of business hours.
So next time your interviewing prospective Property Managers to manage your property, think about asking the following questions:
- Do you show my property after hours to prospective tenants (which is when most people are available to view properties)
- Who looks after after hours emergency calls?
- Are you available to reach after hours if there is an emergency and is that in your policies and procedures?
